Recently, Minneapolis' own Ricardo Levins Morales posed a question: "What stories, values or beliefs, if they were widely disseminated, would make it easy to win?”
There is a long tradition of using letterpress printing to create public messages or broadsides that were meant to rally support for a cause or educate the public on an issue. Many iconic campaign messages were set in type and pressed into paper to carry on marches, wheatpaste onto buildings, and spread the word.
Join us for an evening of imagining powerful, bold messages for change. Ashley Fairbanks will lead us in a conversation to brainstorm these statements, and together we'll select one to create a unique letterpress poster that we will set up and print in the same night. Elana Schwartzman will demonstrate letterpress printing and show examples of posters that instigated change. We'll crank out as many posters as we can and you'll take posters home with you to put up in your home, workplace, and around your neighborhood.
This event is a collaboration between Coup and Proof Public. The event is free, but space is limited, so please register below.
